In 2015, Medicare began offering monthly reimbursements for chronic care management (CCM). Use of the Morisky Scale for CCM services are billed under CPT 99490 for chronically ill Medicare patients and include at least 20 minutes of non-face to face time directed by a physician or other qualified health care professional, per calendar month. Consent must be documented in the patients medical record. A HUGE ADVANTAGE for using the Morisky Scales is they are validated with an Internal Consistency Cronbach's alpha .83, Sensitivity 93%, and Specificity 57%.
